N/IICU East Clinical Nurse Expert & Leadership

Supervise unit operations and support N/IICU East nurses via clinical expertise and social/emotional support as a member of the N/IICU East Leadership Team

Conduct formal “CNE Check-ins” with staff with under two years of experience to foster engagement and professional development

Collaborate with N/IICU Charge nurses for Environment of Care rounds in keeping our unit Regulatory ready

Manage care of neonates and infants, and their families, across many populations including premature infants; infants with congenital disorders, chronic lung disease, and lymphatic disorders; and those requiring advanced therapies such as surgery, high frequency ventilation, ECMO, and therapeutic hypothermia

N/IICU Transport Co-Lead

Co-lead the development and current operation of a 26-person N/IICU Transport Team to achieve current standard of care for 250+ N/IICU patients to date

Implemented program design, onboarding, change management, continuing education, and partnership between the N/IICU and Transport departments

Designed and conducted an evidence-based orientation program for N/IICU nurses to cross-train to the transport environment

Developed and facilitated a high-fidelity simulation as a capstone to N/IICU Transport orientation

Transport acutely ill neonates via ground, rotor wing, and fixed wing, providing routine and emergency care in collaboration with Transport Team clinicians and N/IICU providers

Triage calls and maintain situational awareness to provide clinical support throughout the N/IICU as Resource RN between transports

RN Education and Conference Support

Provide patient specific expertise to support virtual chat for Chronic Lung Disease conferences 2022 & 2023.

Participate in planning committees for both Chronic Lung Disease Conference as well as Chronic Lung Disease Education Day for nursing.

Clinical Leadership Administrative Management Staff Development & Education Patient Safety & Quality Assurance Family-Centered Care

Supervises and supports a team of NICU nurses and support staff.

Ensures delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care for premature and critically ill infants.

Collaborates with neonatologists and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.

Oversees staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to maintain optimal nurse-to-patient ratios.

Manages budgets, supply ordering, and equipment maintenance.

Ensures compliance with hospital policies, state regulations, and accreditation standards

Mentors and evaluates staff performance.

Implements training and continuing education to maintain clinical competencies and certifications (e.g., PALs, BLS).

Leads and supports quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice projects.

Develops protocols to ensure patient safety, infection control, and emergency response preparedness.

Monitors key performance indicators (e.g., CLABSI rates, harm prevention metrics, length of stay)

Investigates and addresses incidents or complaints, promoting a culture of transparency and learning.

Promotes communication and emotional support for families during stressful and critical times.

Ensures culturally competent and compassionate care aligned with family needs and values.

Facilitates parental education and involvement in infant care when appropriate.
