A backup receiver is there to receive in vendors on the one day that the primary receivers are not present in the store, or.to cover for the primary receiver in case of vacations, illness, or any other occasion that may lead to their absence. The backup receiver performs the same duties as the primary receiver, that being checking in vendors and verifying that they are bringing in the necessary product in the right amounts as stated on their invoices, processing the day-to-day paperwork, and collaborating with fellow associates to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
The role of a CGO Coordinator seems to be a simple one, but there is much more to the job than just scanning holes and looking for outs. As a CGO Coordinator, your primary goal is to ensure that the store's inventory is running as smooth and precise as it possibly can. Sure, this means you have to scan outs, but it also entails deeper research into other possible issues. Some of these issues can be missing items on deliveries, large amounts of product that shouldn't be there, or even issues with planogram integrity.
The role itself is very much an independent one, but you must work very closely with the department leads and managers in your store to keep an eye out for potential opportunities for improvement. The department heads will often notice issues or the like in their departments before you do, so it is imperitave that a strong line of communication is kept so that any potential concerns can be resolved as expediant as possible. Not only are you working with department heads, but you must also work with your receiver and the vendors that come through your doors. Not every vendor hole is something that can be worked out by yourself, so often you will need to communicate with either the receiver or your vendors to ensure that they are bringing in the product that they should be, or to find out what products they cannot bring in, due to not carrying said product anymore or a simple inability to get the product themselves.
As we do not live in a perfect world, mistakes are bound to happen, especially from the warehouse to the stores. CGO Coordinators are the first line of defense against missing items or mispicks on deliveries when they hit the sales floor. If an issue such as this is identified, a CGO Coordinator must take the proper steps to communicate and resolve said issue. This may be to speak up to your store manager, get in the proper channels with your higher-ups in the corporate office, like your District Manager or Regional Operations Specialist, or communicate the issue with your Regional CGO Specialist. These issues can arise from slotting errors in the warehouse, or even worker carelessnes, so it is crucial to make sure these issues get resolved as quickly as they possibly can. A good amount of time, as long as the problem is caught quickly enough, it will no longer happen, but there may be instances where warehouse missteps may not be the problem. The problem may be in your own store.
In day to day store life, planograms are there to ensure the neatness and tidiness of sections of the aisles and of displays. As a CGO Coordinator, you must ensure that these planograms are kept up to snuff and accurate. If an item has too many or too little spots on the shelf, then that could lead to an excess or lack of product. Sometimes, a tag may fall off the shelf or be pulled off and not replaced, creating a hole that will then be filled as a result, leading to the product that was supposed to be there no longer having a spot on the shelf. Planogram integrity is an incredibly important aspect that must be maintained for the job of the CGO Coordinator to flow smoothly and for them to be able to execute their tasks with efficiency and accuracy.
In the role of a sales associate, there were many tasks needed to fulfill during the day. Primarily, the job was to stock shelves, but beyond that the most important aspect of the job was customer service. Whether it was assisting a customer in finding a product, or collaborating with other staff in the building, we always made sure that customers came and left feeling beyond satisified with their shopping experience, and wanting to make Weis Markets their store of choice.
Along with customer service, we as sales associates strive to make the store and all of its components look in tip-top shape, ensuring that all company standards and guidelines were being upheld.
