  • Pre tripping my tractor and trailer, checking fluids, lights, brakes, belts, wires, hoses, and tires. Properly filling out gate pass for pickup of load at Lowes RDC, safely transporting the load to one of 50 Lowes stores in 4 states, drop and hook switching trailers out and doing a post trip inspection on trailer I just dropped and a pretrip inspection on the one I'm picking up.

  • On average 8 hr day I grade about 1200' an hour
  • I also catch off a saw when there is no grading and operate the edger
  • I am also learning how to saw on a Wood Mizer 4000!

  • I also travel in PA to various sawmills to grade lumber and buy that lumber according to NHLA rules and our company specs
  • This may involve standing for long periods of time, walking on uneven surfaces, getting up and down often, and making quick, accurate decisions
  • I also pull graded lumber off a chain and separate into carts which can be physically demanding at times! This is an outdoor job, all year around, and in all weather conditions
  • Species I have graded are Red Oak, White Oak, Ash, Soft Maple, Hard Maple, Cherry, Hickory, Birch, and Poplar
  • Also responsible for the stacking of lumber, and proper loading of kilns as well as drying lumber and servicing the boiler

  • Assistant Kiln Operator, Responsible for up to $500,000 of lumber at any one time. Responsible for cutting of samples from lifts of lumber, weighing them, end coating, and placing them in the kiln. Make temperature adjustments according to the sample weights.
  • Boiler Assistant, Do the boiler chemical tests to ensure the proper amount of chemical mixture is flowing through the boiler so the rods inside do not become corroded.
  • PA District 13 Little League Umpire, Attend umpire clinic in spring to go over rule changes, ask questions, and get a background check done. Umpire baseball and softball ages 6-16 boys and girls.
