Performing a full range of standard maintenance work, repair processes and specific procedures such as disassembly, repair, overhaul, modification, alignment, diagnosis, visual inspection and testing of assemblies and sub-assemblies in a bay or line operation according to routine work methods and trade procedures. Assisting higher grade equipment mechanics or repair workers in a variety of production work areas such as inspection, disassembly, repair/replacement, overhaul, modification and alignment of major components and systems. Performing disassembly, disconnection and removal of engines, transmissions, fuel and electrical systems, various other equipment including a variety of general purpose heavy duty components assigned for repair in the organization. I assist others and independently performing standardized, routine and repetitive tasks using common hand and power tools to remove/install and repair internal and external assemblies and sub assemblies from or to major components and systems. Disassembling and segregating parts, making visual inspections for serviceability and cleaning by using wire brush, cleaning solutions and other similar hand operations. Determining work methods to be used in disassembling and assembling equipment, organizing items according to condition for transfer to appropriate storage or reclamation areas, performing diagnostic and test functions in determining equipment serviceability, in tracing and locating defects, and in determining cause of malfunction. I am able to do the work of a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic without more than normal supervision, have knowledge of equipment assembly, installation and repair of heavy mobile equipment and vehicles and will be able to perform a full range of maintenance processes such as disassembly, repair, overhaul, modification, alignment, diagnosis, and testing in a bay or line operation on a variety of either wheeled or tracked heavy mobile equipment, bull dozers, road graders with wings, vibratory rollers, front end loaders, grade awls, back hoes with attachments, wood chippers, large runway and street snow removal vehicles, fire engine pumpers oil recovery, airplane refuelers, general purpose heavy duty transport trailers, trailer components to missile/electronic systems, and various other items of equipment assigned for repair in the organization, disassemble equipment by disconnecting and removing units such as engines, transmissions, final drives, and various other assemblies and components, recondition equipment by replacing/overhauling parts, components, parts and major assemblies which entails the installation, hook up and connection of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems, and final adjustments, and prepare vehicles for final inspection by performing a variety of diagnostic tune up, repair, replacement, and adjustment tasks on different types of vehicles. I have knowledge of technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) able to trace and locate defects which cause hydraulic and other systems to fail or not perform to specifications, skilled in the use of measuring instruments and a wide variety of test equipment, i.e., ignition timers, tachometers, volt meters, gauges, able to interpret instructions, specifications, repair manuals, etc. (includes blueprint reading) to determine extent of repairs necessary, able to use and maintain tools and equipment common to repair such as wrenches, pliers, brake tools, ignition tools, screwdrivers, welding equipment, able and skilled in troubleshooting various mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronic controls, and other non-mechanical systems.
