I served as an Electro-Optical Ordinance Repairer with 1st Battalion 7th Marines. This entailed technical proficiency with small arms optics and weapons systems, and gear accountability and management. I led a small team of junior enlisted Marines in keeping a high level of mission readiness regarding all aspects of maintenance, organization, and accountability. This included
- Achieved a perfect score on the Marine Corps Logistics Readiness Evaluation (2023) as the Calibrations Manager, ensuring 48 serialized calibration items were properly calibrated and tracked through Marine Corps GCSS as well as physical record management.
- Facilitated the account turnover between the 7th Marine Regiment Headquarters Armory and 2nd Battalion 7th Marines Armory non-rotational gear prior to their deployment valued at $1.98 million, ensuring full accountability of all ordinance equipment during their deployment and upon their return.
- Assisted in transfer of 3rd Battalion 7th Marines Armory non-rotational gear, valued at $2.37 million, to the 7th Marine Regiment Headquarters Armory, maintaining precise accountability of all ordinance equipment during transfer of accounts, deployment, and upon their return.
- Served as the acting Armory Maintenance Chief for 1st Battalion 7th Marine Armory during the account transfer of of non-rotational gear to 7th Marine Regiment Headquarters Armory prior to our unit deployment.

- Marine Corps Combat Marksmanship Coach - Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to prepare shooters for small arms dry and live fire exercises; zeroing weapons; coach fundamentals of pistol and rifle marksmanship; coach target engagement at night using night vision and enabling devices; perform range emergency and supervision procedures; demonstrate shooting error correction and shot delivery techniques; and design and implement a remedial training program. Methods of instruction include classroom exercises and discussion. General course topics include career progression, professional ethics, sexual harassment, combat conditioning, stress control, social media, professional communications, warfighting, irregular warfare, land navigation, and tactical communication.
- Basic Electro-Optical Ordnance Repairer Course - Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to perform maintenance, testing, and inspection procedures for electro-optical equipment used in tanks, Howitzers, light armored vehicles, guided missile systems, lasers, night vision equipment, and survey instruments; apply calibration techniques on telescopes and laser-mounted devices; and understand basic optical physics. Methods of instruction include audiovisual materials, classroom exercises, computer-based training, lecture, and practical exercises. General course topics include introductory optical theory, electronic equipment, telescope maintenance, light armored vehicles, anti-tank weapons systems, fire control systems, maintenance inspections and procedures, M2A2 aiming circle maintenance, Small Air Bomb Extended Range (SABER) Weapon system, Global Combat Support System, night vision systems, ordnance vehicle fire control systems, thermal systems, safety, and equipment calibration, testing, maintenance and troubleshooting.

Achievement Medal while serving as Armory Calibrations Non-Commissioned Officer, Headquarters and Service
Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, on 12 August 2022. During this period, he is credited with the
following significant accomplishments.
On 12 August 2022, Lance Corporal Spangenberg was recognized by the 1st Marine Division Logistics Readiness
Evaluation (LRE) Team for his high degree of technical expertise exhibited by his noteworthy performance during
the FY22 LRE inspection. Amidst a demanding training tempo, LCp1Spangenberg continued to maintain and
progress his shop's performance as the Armory Calibrations Non-Commissioned Officer, a billet typically held by
a sergeant. His work ethic and attention to detail resulted in the proper management of all calibrations in the
armory for over 1,000 total items that are reviewed and coordinated for calibration.
As a key billet holder to the Armory section, he coordinated weekly Maintenance Management reconciliations
with the Maintenance Management Officer and consistently forecasted and set appointments for essential gear in
the Armory, thus allowing 1st Battalion, 7th Marines to maintain a high degree of operational readiness.
LCp1Spangenberg's superior performance of duty reflected credit upon him, the Marine Corps and the United
States Naval Service. He is enthusiastically recommended for the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal."
