To obtain my teaching certification in Special Education.
Since my decision in late 2004, after the birth of our only child, to be a stay-at-home mother, I have always found ways to be involved in my community. I was the homeroom mom when Jack was in preschool and subsequently became a member of the Nursery School Board at St. Andrew’s Nursery School. I served on the board there until I was asked to join the Church Council at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church. I just finished my first 6-year term. Upon joining Council, I was elected Treasurer and have served in that capacity for the 6 years.
I was involved with Home & School for over 10 years and have served as an officer for 9 of those years. I chaired just about any committee you can imagine, from Yearbook Coordinator to Fun Day Chair. I also served as Treasurer for the Methacton Coordinating Council and was instrumental in getting them their non-profit status.
My biggest task to date is Post Prom Co-Chair. I ran Methacton's Post Prom that provides an all-night, substance free, safe alternative to risky behaviors on prom night.
Currently, I am helping to run the Backpack Program to help food insecure students across the Methacton School District.
