New Courses Developed

Gray, G. M., Cholet, V., Course, "Varsity Sports Experience," KINES 88. (June 2019). Re-wrote the curriculum for KINES 88 based on input from Kinesiology colleagues across the university to minimize curricular drift and to retain general education general health and wellness designation.

New Methods of Teaching Established Courses

"Introduction to Health and Human Sexuality," BBH 146. (08/2024). Began implementing principles of Universal Design for Learning

"Varsity Sports Experience," KINES 88. (09/2023). Worked with Athletics to develop an online Microsoft Form for coaches to complete for the student-athletes' participation portion of their grade

"Resistance Training," KINES 68. (03/2023). Implemented a form analysis assignment with emphasis on correct lifting technique

"Introduction to Health and Human Sexuality," BBH 146. (01/2023). Utilized Solstice pods to improve interactions among group members with seating arrangement that was centered around each individual pod

"Kinesiology 0-99 courses." (08/2022). Revised GHW courses to update objectives and include general education objectives

"Resistance Training," Kines 68. (10/2020). Focused the course on body weight workouts by incorporating the use of the Fitness Blender website for group workouts

"Introduction to Health and Human Sexuality," BBH 146. (03/2020). Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Zoom was used for synchronous class meetings. A key component of our face-to-face classes was small group work, which was continued through the use of breakout rooms on Zoom

"Introduction to Health and Human Sexuality," BBH 146. (05/2019). After Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence's Course Design Academy, BBH 146 was redesigned from traditional topical modules that split context into silos to chronological modules that traced sexuality related issues throughout the lifespan. Re-design included adding several points of assessment during the course

"Personal Defense," KINES 57. (01/2018, 01/2019). Collaborated with Nursing faculty to evaluate baseline and stressed vital signs of students in KINES 57. Provided practical experience for NURS students while allowing KINES students to understand effects of stress on body

"Intro to Outdoor Pursuits-Geocaching," KINES 1. (10/2015). Students in class hosted a campus wide event where they taught other students, faculty, and staff how to geocache. Students were responsible for filling and hiding caches; recruiting others to the event; applying for Student Activity Fee funding to provide snacks and water to participants; taking participants around campus to find a cache. Event was covered by campus public relations and local news station WBRE.
