My duties include but are not limited to: Provide direct supervision, oversight and treatment to offenders under the jurisdiction of Great Plains Correctional Facility. Supervise dining halls and/or kitchen areas to ensure the proper flow of food service and safety of the institution. As a cook, I provided on-the-job training in a large food service operation. The ordering of foods and changing menus when supplies were not received on time were part of my daily duties. As a supervisor I provided inmate food service workers special trainings in safe cook practices. Prepare, post and hand out Medical Call Outs/Sick Calls for the day. Ensure all inmates show up to their call outs and or sick call. Supervise inmates during pill in to ensure they are properly taking their medication. Shakedown the Recreation yard(s) prior to inmates entering the yard, wand and pat search inmates on the compound and or housing units. Provide supervision while operating a motored vehicle on the perimeter of the facility while carrying a 9mm Glock and a 12 gauge shotgun. Continuously review, interpret, apply and enforce all laws, policies, procedures, rules and regulations applicable to the facility. This requires me to communicate both orally and in writing to inmate requests and or behaviors. My duties also require me to respond to institutional emergencies such as: staff assaults, inmate assaults, medical emergencies, offender altercations, dealing with non-compliant inmates, calls staff for assistance, suicide attempts, attempted escapes, introduction of contraband to the facility. During these situations I have proven the ability to remain professional.

During my time worked at Great Plains Correctional Facility my assignments have included the following post and/or duties; housing units, medical officer, front lobby, visitation, perimeter officer, s.i.s. officer, pod control, rec officer, control center, head cook, special housing unit, hospital runs.
