  • Design custom tools to assist production of Mack trucks.
  • Work within custom ERP system, Custom Tooling Repository via PDM Link, and various Sharepoints and power BIs to share data.
  • Utilize workflow/workplace methodologies such as as 5S, Gemba, Kaizan, Lean, FMEA, and RCA.
  • Typically have 30 to 50 tools assigned at a time, tool requests are varying complexities and lead times.
  • Project Manager - Every custom tool is a project. Begins with a tool request, next steps are, investigate, speak to technicians, supervisors, safety, and business team, then design or RFQ, if design complete model and drawings and manage in house fabrication team, if RFQ manage project.
  • Upon fabrication completion or tooling/equipment delivery I schedule a trial with the team (all stakeholders from line technician to business unit manager) on the line and we either close the job and put in service or go back to design if needed.
  • Tooling Engineer Coordinator TEC, additionally role within TE team where my responsibilities are to meet with a specific area of the production line and review all of their tooling requests prior to submitting their TERs. Track current tooling requests and plan for upcoming project and priorities for safety and quality. Run weekly meetings.
  • 3d print, I use 3d prints for various tooling needs from jigs to non marring supports to supporting product development with mock ups for fitment tests.
  • Software skills: Auto Cad, Catia, Creo, Inventor, NCL, Sketchup, GrabCAD, Bambu Software Excel/Google Sheets, Word/Google Writer, PowerPoint, Photoshop/Gimp, Outlook, Teams, Sharepoints.
