- Addressing employee concerns in a timely and professional manner. Going over the task methods to ensure everyone is working efficiently and safely in the warehouse due to it being quite easy to get injured when handling heavier packages.
- Fixing machinery and ensuring that the operation steadily runs. Throughout the shift many aspects of my specific area are automated, meaning it requires more attention from supervisors to constantly run or no packages will get serviced. I learned how to fix actual robots and keep belts and stations running, removing the need for warehouse mechanics to to visit the area often.
- Being able to talk to anyone and everyone to not only make sure that the tasks are being done correctly, but keep morale up as well. A warehouse can be a demanding physical job and one that gets drab rather quickly. Keeping the employees engaged and motivated is a major part of being a supervisor in UPS.
- Communicating with my colleagues throughout the shift to keep them updated on how the operation is functioning and whenever anything is either not running properly or is just broken in general. Communication is key in any job and all supervisors in the warehouse are given a radio every day to be able to speak with one another easily.
- Covered shifts for absent team members to ensure operational continuity. and being able to pick up work where it's needed. Day to day we have callouts and vacations that need to be filled in for and at times staffing can be bare. Due to my knowledge of the job and my area, I'm able to cover whenever needed with any task from my years of experience. Not only can I supervise, but I can also do what my employees do and efficiently at that which is why I teach most employees that get hired and assigned to my area.
