Marcos Alvim is a geologist with extensive management experience leading successful operations and technical teams in TSX / TSX-V / NYSE listed mining companies with business in Americas.
His experience includes key industry segments such as exploration, project development, technical services, construction and operations and strong knowledge in both open pit and underground mining operations. Exposed and managed operational budgets (OPEX) up to US$ 50M per year and capital expenditure up to US$ 40M. He was also successfully exposed for a management of diverse work force, leading teams with about 350 employees.
Marcos has experience with gold, silver, copper and nickel and acted as qualified person for scientific and technical disclosures. He has a strong project management and resources / reserves estimation skills, leading the development and implementation of feasibility studies, as the preparation of Technical Reports compliant with NI 43-101 and JORC guidelines.
Marcos has a strong communications skill, speaking, writing and reading fluently Portuguese, Spanish and English.
Responsible for long term mine planning and technical services for base metals south atlantic region that includes 3 operations with an annual production of approx. 300kt of copper, 30kt of nickel and 250koz of gold. Acting as a regional leader and QP for mineral resources and mineral reserves public disclosures.
Responsible to lead a team of 245 own employees and 200 contractors for geological drilling activities, with 5 direct manager reports that includes the Mineral Resource Manager, Long Term Mine Planning Manager, Mineral Processing Manager, Laboratories Manager and Operational readiness Manager.
Main accountabilities includes geological drilling, ore modelling, mineral resource and reserves estimation and disclosure, production plan for the budget, development of new ore processing routes, optimization of metallurgical recovery, all chemical and physical analyses carried out in the units.
Responsible for a successful near mine exploration programs and mine planning optimization enabling an addition of about 400Mt of ore to the mineral resources along last years. Responsible for the integrated management of near mine / infill drilling activities, geological
modeling and estimation of mineral resources and mineral reserves for the South Atlantic base metals operations, which include the Salobo, Sossego and Onça Puma units and adjacent projects. Regional Qualified Person for the south atlantic operations, working on the consolidation and approval of the information generated for the preparation of the MRMR, 20-F and Technical Reports reports.
Conducting the LoOP and master plan of operations, as well as the five-year plans used to prepare the budget and monthly rolling plans for 24 months (M+24). Leader in the development of projects and feasibility studies focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, using clean energy technologies such as Trolley Assist and Rail Veyor.
As the most expressive results, it was responsible for the increase of approximately 300 MUSD in the NPV of the Salobo project (3.6 to 3.9 BUSD), driven by the revision of the geological model and optimization in the multi-year mining sequencing. It was also responsible for adding approximately 380 MUSD to the Cristalino project's NPV (20 to 400 MUSD) through the revision of the geological model with an increase in the copper reserve and the incorporation of hematitic iron ore available as pre-stripping. It also identified opportunities to raise approximately 450 Mt of additional ore at Salobo, Alemão and Mata targets.
