Executes continuous analyses of fire incident data from USFA's National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) using Statistical Analysis System (SAS) software and Microsoft Excel to investigate current national fire challenges. Based on these analyses, develops informational products such as USFA’s annual residential and nonresidential building fire estimates, annual U.S. fire death rates, and other analytical reports.
Manages multiple contracts and projects, which includes developing, reviewing, executing, and ensuring compliance with all contractual agreements.
Deploys, physically on-site and virtually through a call center, to presidentially declared disasters to help disaster victims receive assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Individual Assistance Program.
Identifies national research needs in the fields of fire detection, prevention, and suppression technologies and practices; firefighter health and wellness; and emergent issues related to the fire protection and prevention community. Recommends projects for funding and participation through the development of position papers, preparation of independent estimates, and documentation of relationships to established USFA goals and objectives.
