As a kid, I used to be very troubled but smart. I always had good grades and stayed on top of my work, but I had behavioral issues. I’ve always been good at making friends and never been afraid to be myself, which sometimes caused problems in the classroom. One time my teacher kicked me out of the class while we were taking a test because I didn’t stop talking. As the years went on, I started to mature more and turn a new leaf. I became a new and better person overall.
I started getting active and got involved in sports like track and basketball during my freshman year of high school. Coming into high school, I had a weight problem and wasn’t in shape for the sports I wanted to do. Playing sports helped me get in better shape and taught me many skills such as discipline, hard work, communication, leadership, and integrity.
One game that really taught me something was during my sophomore year. We were down by a few points, and everyone on the team was frustrated. Instead of getting upset like I might’ve in the past, I stepped up and encouraged everyone to stay focused. I kept talking on defense, called out plays, and made sure we worked together. We ended up coming back and winning the game. That moment showed me how powerful leadership and communication can be, and how staying calm under pressure can change everything.
Upbeat and motivating, with a knack for leadership and teamwork, I embody the qualities essential for guiding a group to success both on and off the court. I possess a strong understanding of game strategies and excel at executing plays and coordinating team efforts. I’m dedicated to building a cohesive unit and achieving great results through effective communication and strategic planning.
One of my biggest basketball accomplishments was earning a starting spot on my team after working hard all offseason to improve my game. I spent extra hours in the gym perfecting my shot and conditioning, and it paid off when I became a starting players who helped lead our team to several big wins that season. Being a team captain was also a very big accomplishment for me as well, I was the face of the team, and teaching the young players and holding the older guys accountable.
