In May of 2024, I had the opportunity to job shadow at UPMC Passavant in the cytology department. I shadowed with the cytology team where they gave me a tour of their department and how the equipment is used. I was able to observe a few procedures that the team went on and learned how the process of collecting samples went. I also observed how they screen the cells and come up with their conclusions. It was an amazing learning opportunity and introduction to being a cytologist.
