• A multicenter retrospective cohort study to evaluate effect of inhaled epoprostenol on mechanical ventilation, length of stay, or mortality in patients with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome and other lung injury with severe hypoxemia. The use of inhaled epoprostenol in this select patient population improved oxygenation with no differences in duration of mechanical ventilation, length of stay, or mortality. • Spearheaded a QI initiative embedding updated AHA PE guidelines into the Epic order set to standardize risk-stratified treatment and drive institution-wide adherence to evidence-based care.

Standardized ICU Admission Order Set for Comprehensive Care Coordination in Epic

• Created a standardized Epic ICU admission order set to reliably capture information such as code status, incidental findings, and surrogate decision-makers, reducing gaps in critical information at admission and improving care coordination.

• This policy calls for increased advocacy efforts and funding for rural labor and delivery departments under financial strain to improve access to intrapartum care. The policy also asks for support from the Texas Medical Association to promote awareness to the general public, policymakers, and physicians of the challenges rural women face when seeking obstetric care resulting from decreased access to local L&D Departments.

• This policy opposes the Texas Medicaid 90-day sobriety requirement for hepatitis C virus (HCV) treatment and supports efforts to remove the sobriety requirement as a barrier for HCV treatment. The resolution also asks that the TMA encourage awareness and avoidance of barriers relating to access to HCV treatment.
