Conducting individual counseling sessions and providing assistance with obtaining information on employment opportunities and community resources. Responsible for developing, maintaining, and presenting records and reports to effectively manage a caseload. Parole planning and provide recommendations for reentry services. Ultimately, empower and assist inmates in developing a sense of self-worth and responsibility, leading to positive changes in their attitudes and behaviors.
Direct inmate activities and maintain security in cell blocks, housing units, cottages, work areas, dining and recreation areas. Observe inmates from towers, in corridors or in visiting areas, searches visitors, moves groups of inmates from one area of an institution to another, patrols assigned areas. Provide advice and guidance in assisting inmates in their adjustment to and participating in correctional processes and the Department's rules and regulations. Work varies from duties where there is direct involvement with inmates to work where there is limited contact with inmates and visitors.
Observe inmates, document daily happenings and records including medical logs, handle messages, deal directly with the public, escort inmates to and from locations throughout the jail and work with court-related personnel, police, bondsmen and parole agents in a professional manner.
